Dyspareunia

Dyspareunia is pain during or after having sex. It is more common in women. Types of dyspareunia include:
Primary or Lifelong Dyspareunia ? Sex has always caused pain.
Secondary or Acquired Dyspareunia ? Sex becomes painful after having been pain-free.
Complete Dyspareunia ? Sex is painful under all circumstances.
Situational Dyspareunia ? Sex is painful only under certain conditions.
In women, pain may occur:
  • Only upon entry of the penis into the vagina
  • Only during deep thrusting
  • Throughout all of sex
